At the bottom of each of your website forms, you'll generally want to include a disclaimer that will allow you to legally send text messages to people whose phone number you collect.
The following is not legal advice, and we recommend you consult a lawyer for further guidance, but here are the general guidelines, with the caveat that texting providers can be somewhat fickle about what they approve, and guidelines may change over time.
Requirements
Under the contact form, your opt-in message must include message frequency, fee disclosure, opt-out instructions and links to your privacy policy and terms of service.
The checkbox must unchecked by default.
Example:
By submitting this form and signing up for texts, you consent to receive voter contact, donation asks, and informational messages from COMMITTEE NAME. Msg & data rates may apply. Msg frequency varies. Unsubscribe at any time by replying STOP. Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply.
*Must put hyperlink to a privacy policy.
